Privacy Policy
Clipped is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you, stays with you, and is processed by you — on your own device.
TL;DR
We collect zero data. No account, no analytics, no cloud storage. Your clips never leave your iPhone.
The short version
Clipped does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your clips live on your device. We have no servers that hold your content, no user accounts, and no analytics. That's it.
What data we collect
None. We do not collect your name, email address, device identifier, IP address, usage patterns, clip content, or any other information that could identify you or your behaviour.
On-device AI — open-source models
All AI features — tagging, summarising, searching — are powered by Qwen 2.5 and Qwen 3.5, two open-source large language models developed by Alibaba Cloud and distributed under the Apache 2.0 licence. These models are downloaded directly to your iPhone and run entirely on-device via the Apple Neural Engine (Core ML). No prompt, clip, or inference result is ever sent to any external server. You can inspect the models' weights and architecture publicly at github.com/QwenLM/Qwen. You can delete the downloaded models at any time from Settings → AI Models → Delete inside the App; doing so frees up the storage they occupy and disables AI features until you re-download them.
iCloud & backups
Clipped does not use iCloud Drive or any cloud sync. If you back up your iPhone via iCloud Backup or iTunes, your clips may be included in that backup according to Apple's own privacy policy — that is a relationship between you and Apple, not us.
In-app purchase (watermark removal)
Clipped offers a one-time in-app purchase to remove the watermark from exported videos. This transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not handle or store your payment details. Apple may collect transaction data subject to their own privacy policy. The only information we receive from Apple is a receipt confirmation that the purchase was completed — we do not receive your name, card number, or billing address.
Third-party services
Clipped contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash-reporting services, or tracking libraries. The only network activity the app may perform is to check the App Store for update metadata and validate in-app purchases, both of which are handled by iOS itself via Apple's servers.
Children's privacy
Because we collect no personal data from any users, Clipped is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the applicable local age in your jurisdiction).
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy in a material way — for example if we add optional cloud sync — we will update this page and bump the 'Last updated' date. We will not retroactively collect data without explicit opt-in from you.
